Having tried, unsuccessfully, to eat here before Christmas, I booked in advance for Sunday lunch at this country pub.
The thatched pub is not very big inside, but it had a very welcoming wood burning stove, which was a warming prospect on a blustery winter’s day.
I was slightly disappointed, as the website had shown a large and varied menu for lunch, but we were told the website was out-of-date and only Sunday lunch is served.
This greatly reduced my choices as a vegetarian, but I settled on baked camembert while Martin opted for roast beef. Both cost £8.95 and there were two more meat options.
We had quite a long wait for our food, although when it came it did not disappoint.
My camembert was in bite-size pieces and had a generous salad and portion of red hot chips. It was very tasty and a chilli dip added a kick.
Martin’s roast was a very generous size and he struggled to finish the vegetables. He said the meat was cooked well and cut in thick slices.
We were both too full for dessert, but a brownie being served to another diner did catch my eye.
For two main meals and two Cokes the bill was £23. Two and three course deals are £11.95 and £15.95.
