ARTISTIC children at Walwayne Court School in Trowbridge have shown that breakfast is not just the most important meal of the day - it is also the most creative.

Pupils from Kingfisher class at the school, which is in Brook Road, used individual Shreddies cereal o create mosaics this week as part of their topic on the Romans.

The class of Year 4 and 5 children have previously visited the Roman Baths and re-enacted battle tactics on the playground to learn more about the Roman period.

However, thanks to a donation of boxes of Shreddies from Cereal Partners manager Steve Ford and parent Richard Eveleigh, who works at the company’s Staverton factory, the children were also able to make their own Roman mosaics out of the different types of Shreddies made by the company.

Class teacher Matt Hood said: “Kingfishers class at Walwayne Court School have been studying The Romans. Over the past few weeks, they have enjoyed a trip to the Roman Baths and re-enacted Roman battle tactics on the playground.

“However, we wanted to thank Steve Ford at Cereal Partners in Staverton and Mr Eveleigh, who is the parent of Holly in our class, for agreeing to supply the class with numerous boxes of Shreddies.

“We used them to create mosaics, which we then used in Maths to calculate fractions and percentages. It was a fabulous opportunity and would not have been possible without their help and generosity.”
