Baby of the week

Rosa Irene Ettel

Born: March 20, 11.46am

Weight: 6Ib 3oz

Parents: Marie and Nick Ettel, of Southwick

NEWBORN baby Rosa Irene Ettel was certainly in a hurry to meet her parents Marie and Nick, after arriving a week early at Trowbridge Birthing Centre.

The couple, who have been together since 2001 and were married in 2003, already have two daughters, Lara, 10, and Nicole, six, who both arrived on time when they were delivered.

Mrs Ettel said her husband, 39, was hoping for a boy after having two girls, but she added that she was confident her daughters would be getting another sister.

She said: “The pregnancy was really easy and we knew it was going to be a quick birth as my other two had been quite quick, although they also arrived on time. She was breech at 37 weeks, but they were able to turn her.

“I expect that she will be our last. Nick was hoping for a boy and we only had a name ready for a boy, but I always thought it was going to be a girl as it runs in the family.

“We named her Rosa as that was the name of one of the ladies looking after me and we both liked it. Irene is after Nick’s mum, who passed away last May from cancer.”

Mrs Ettel and her husband, who works as an interior designer, were full of praise for the staff at Trowbridge Birthing Centre, where she also had her eldest daughter.

She added: “We had Rosa and Helena looking after us and the care we got was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and they were just brilliant throughout.

“Rosa was actually born on the same day as her grandpa, so they share a birthday. We visited him and there were a lot of family there, so she got lots of hugs and kisses. She has been absolutely fantastic so far and is sleeping really well.”
