NOT many people choose to celebrate their 40th birthday by running the London Marathon but Lynsey Ellis from Melksham is doing exactly that.
She will be running the 26 miles on April 26 to raise money for animal charity PDSA, where she works as a vet in their Bristol branch.
She said: “In the past, I’ve run the Bristol 10k in aid of PDSA, but with my 40th birthday approaching I wanted to do something big to mark the occasion and running my first marathon seemed like a fantastic way to kick-start my 40s.
“I’ve worked for PDSA for 16 years and the need for the charity’s help had never been greater. When you train to be a vet, it’s because you want to be able to help animals.
“PDSA is a wonderful organisation to work for because we can make sure that some of the most vulnerable pets in society get the veterinary care they need and deserve.”
Ms Ellis is hoping to raise £1,900 for PDSA. To donate go to: virginmoneygiving.com/LynseyEllis
