HI-TECH motoring firm Anthony Best Dynamics continued its excellent start to 2015 by winning the Medium Sized Enterprise of the Year award at this year’s Wiltshire Business Awards.

The company, which was founded by Tony Best in 1982, supplies advanced testing systems to the global motor industry for research and development and for production quality control.

It designs and manufactures specialised systems from its base in Holt Road, Bradford on Avon, for kinematics and compliance testing, driver assistance system testing, autonomous vehicle testing and steering system testing.

ABD’s award comes shortly after it was promised £2.3 million of government cash earlier this year to help it move to a new factory and create jobs – as long as the current government survives the election.

The judges for the award, which was sponsored by Natwest, said: "Anthony Best Dynamics is one of the world's leading designers and manufacturers of advanced driving robots and suspension measurement test rigs used for vehicle development.

"The company exports over 95 per cent of its output and invests substantial resources in research."

The runners up for the award were Swindon-based handmade furniture and specialist joinery company Archer & Smith and property search provider TM Group, which is also based in Swindon.

Managing director Tim Rogers said: "It was a complete surprise considering the quality of the competition and while we hoped we would be a finalist, it is great to be recognised with this award.

"it has already been a great year for us with the new government fund allowing us to expand and build a new factory, which will help turn us into a player on the world stage, so to win this as well is brilliant."

The 2014 Wiltshire Business Awards, which took place at Center Parcs Longleat, featured six other categories, including Business Person of the Year, Apprenticeship Employer, Customer and Staff Care, Environmental, Small Business of the Year and Services to the Community.

Winners in each category gained automatic entry into the night’s most prestigious award – the Overall Excellence Award – which was sponsored by Thrings, a long-time partner of the event.
