RECORD-BREAKING donations have been handed out to good causes after the 2014 Emergency Services Show brought in more than £30,000 in funds.

The show raises money for the three emergency services and their charity partners, with Wiltshire Air Ambulance scooping £4,000 this time round.

At a presentation at Police HQ in Devizes on Thursday, 21 organisations received money from the show’s organising committee made up of volunteers from Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service and South Western Ambulance Service.

Donations were made to groups that support the work of the emergency services along with donations to organisations that support the show itself.

As well as the Wiltshire Air Ambulance beneficiaries included SWIFT Medics, WILSAR, Great Western Air Ambulance, Bobby Van Trust and three blood bike charities.

ESS chairman Chris Harvey said: “We are delighted to have given such a large amount of money as a result of our most successful Show yet.

“We are proud to say that, over the years, we have donated some £115,000 to charities and organisations that work with the emergency services both in Wiltshire and further afield.

“This is a fantastic achievement and, on behalf of the committee, I would like to thank the chief officers of the blue light services, all of our sponsors and of course the public for their continuing and generous support.”

Guests included Wiltshire Police chief constable Pat Geenty, police and crime commissioner Angus Macpherson as well as officers from the different blue light services.

There were also representatives of the main Show sponsors, Vodafone and Grist Group.

The show, now in its 10th year, is an annual event with last year’s show featuring displays from Wiltshire Police’s dog section, a road traffic collision simulation, and a Cricklade fire cadets demonstrating their skills.

This year’s event will be held at Hullavington Airfield near Malmesbury on September 13.
