STAFF at Trowbridge American grill Smokey’s are celebrating being crowned Wiltshire’s Best Restaurant in the Wiltshire Times area, after readers voted it as their favourite.
Smokey’s, which is in Stallard Street, was initially opened as a takeaway in April last year, serving American dishes such as slow roasted pork belly ribs, hotdogs and its special Man V Food burger.
However, the family-run business opened its new restaurant, which can seat up to 40 diners, in November last year and it has now beaten off competition from Prezzo at St Stephen’s Place, Trowbridge, and Thai Barn in Bradford on Avon.
The Times launched the Wiltshire’s Best competition in 2015 to give readers the chance to decide which local businesses deserve recognition for being the best in the area.
Kelly Llewellyn, who co-owns the business with husband Simon and his parents Shirley and Lee, said: “We are very proud to achieve such an amazing award, especially considering the restaurant has only been open for six months.
“We have already had a great reception to the restaurant and we want to say a big thank you to all of our customers for their support. We are now also offering traditional Sunday dinners, so we hope they will also be popular.”
The Wiltshire’s Best competition includes 12 categories over the year, with a different category each month. As part of winning the competition, the restaurant will receive a personalised front page to display in their business.
