CHILDREN from Oasis Academy Longmeadow Primary School provided a helping hand at the annual Christian Aid lunch at St James’ Church Hall in Trowbridge last Thursday.
The event, held in support of Christian Aid, also featured a performance from the choir at St John’s Catholic Primary School in Trowbridge, while outgoing mayor of Trowbridge Glyn Bridges was also in attendance.
This year’s lunch surpassed last year’s total and raised £850 for the international development charity, which supports vulnerable people in countries such as Syria, South Sudan and Iraq.
Gill Lee, who organised the lunch said: “It went very well. We had a very good room full at St James’ Church Hall and we had to put on an extra table because of demand.
“We made £850, which is up on last year’s total, so we are delighted with that. The children from Oasis Academy Longmeadow helped clear the plates after people were finished and they had a good little system going.
“They were kept very busy and were run off their feet, but they did a fantastic job and even wiped down the tables afterwards. St John’s Primary School choir were really great as well and all the diners enjoyed their performance.”
