PUPILS at Holt Primary School enjoyed a musical treat after coming first in the south west in the Sustrans Big Pedal event.
Guitarist Richard Durrant, who has made a career of playing events on the back of his bike, visited the school on Friday to entertain pupils.
The musician recently completed a 1,500-mile concert tour of England towing his entire stage show with him.
More than 90 per cent of the school took part in The Big Pedal, from March 2-20, which aims to encourage more children to cycle to school and reduce traffic around the school gates.
In the 10-day challenge, Holt Primary topped the list in the south west achieving a daily average of 92.94 per cent, making it the highest ranked primary school in Wiltshire.
Students are also involved in Bike It Plus, a school cycling project in association with Public Health at Wiltshire Council.
Jo Collett, Bike It Plus officer for Wiltshire, said: βIt is a fantastic achievement and the impact of the cycle lasts much longer than its three week duration as pupils have become increasingly active in the way they travel to the school over the past few years.β
