Lacock Primary School is all set for this year’s annual scarecrow trail, which starts on Saturday.

Every year the event attracts thousands of visitors to the village, with this year’s trail based around the theme of shops and an additional pre-school trail with its own theme of cartoon characters.

Now in its 13th year the event is organised by the Friends of Lacock School and has raised thousands of pounds for the primary school in the High Street.

Headteacher Richard Hearn said: “The Scarecrow Trail is a fantastic event and I am looking forward to seeing the wonderful creations around the village. The incredible support provided by the Friends of Lacock School allows us to provide a greater range of experiences for the children.”

Friends of Lacock school treasurer Simon Winfield said: “The trail is a fun family day out which helps to raise money for the school which has benefited from new equipment, library books and the refurbishment of a new computer suite from money raised.

“Local businesses in and around the village also get behind the school’s efforts by sponsoring the event and Watlings Jewellery have generously donated a £300 gift voucher to the winner of the trail.”

The trail will run from May 23 to May 25, for more information go to www.friendsoflacockschool.co.uk.

There will be also a FLS helpline set up for the weekend of the trail on 07842 963 952.
