THE Gurkha community and Land Warfare School in Warminster have come together and raised more than £2,000 for Nepal and those affected by the earthquake.

More than 8,000 people lost their lives in the natural disaster last month, prompting a charity curry meal to be held at The Nags Head pub on Portway.

A total of £2,162 was raised after Major Peter White of the Land Warfare School and Ashok Rai of the Gurkha community organised the meal for May 14.

Customers were invited to make a minimum donation of £5 for a meal and had the chance to take part in a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses.

All the money raised will go towards the Gurkha Welfare Trust’s Earthquake Response Fund.
