FAMILY and friends have paid tribute to tragic cyclist Martin Carr.
The 32-year-old, known to his friends as Chinner, was found lying near his bicycle in Mile Elm at 5.45am yesterday shortly after leaving his Braemor Road home.
His parents Douglas and Glennis Carr said last night they were shocked.
Mrs Carr said: "The only thing he has ever suffered from was dislocating his shoulder a few times, we thought he was hit by a car but there wasn't a mark on him. I suppose if there is anything we can be thankful for it's that."
Older brother Nathan added: "He was so fit and healthy, I can't believe it. His mates got him a bike sticker saying Chinner's A Winner, and he was."
Tribute messages from friends have been left on the Wiltshire Times website.
Chris Brookman, of Calne, said: "You always put a smile of my face. Rest in peace mate."
Zoe Robinson, who met her partner Louis thanks to Martin, added: "To say we are devastated would be an understatement. The best bloke, the best fun, the best friend."
And Maxine Keegan, the girlfriend of Alex Ashley, a cyclist killed on the A36 at Heytesbury, near Warminster last month, added her sympathies to the Carr family.
She said: "I know what you are all going through and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I just wanted to send my best wishes to his family and friends."
Police are not treating Mr Carr's death as suspicious but are keeping an open mind.
They are appealing for witnesses to call Sgt Chris Smith at the Central Roads Policing Unit at Chippenham on 0845 408 7000. Add your tribute to Martin Carr by clicking the Comment button.
