Hills Waste Lorry overturned

A HILLS Waste lorry ended up on its side on Monday morning (June 15) at the Old Semington Roundabout on the A361 near Trowbridge.

It is believed that the driver of the 32-tonne truck, who was travelling from Trowbridge towards Melksham, has told police he felt his load of garden waste shift before the incident.

No one was injured in the accident and traffic was not delayed.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “Police received a call at 7.02am on June 15 reporting a lorry had tipped over at the Semington roundabout. The road was not blocked as a result.

“The lorry, a white Volvo Artic Tractor type, caused damage to the pavement as it overturned.

“The driver, a 45-year-old man from Trowbridge, was not injured as a result of the incident, and he arranged recovery of the vehicle.

“One side of the roundabout was closed shortly before midday to enable the vehicle to be turned back upright. The lorry was recovered and the road cleared by 2.34pm.”
