BRADFORD on Avon Leg Club has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award in recognition of its work with patients in Wiltshire.

The club, which was set up by the Bradford on Avon & Melksham Health Partnership with the Lindsay Leg Club Foundation, has been nominated in the The Prince of Wales Award for Integrated Approaches to Care category at the Nursing Times award ceremony.

Since its launch in February 2014, the club has been providing holistic care to patients with lower limb conditions and now has more than 350 registered members, with about a sixth being treated at St Margaret’s Hall every Tuesday.

Ellie Lindsay, president of the Lindsay Leg Club Foundation, said: “This is fantastic news and so well deserved.

"The team have been uncompromising in their enthusiasm and dedication to setting up, running and making a success of the Leg Club.”

In February, the Leg Club added a footcare practitioner, a Walk-Talk-Create group and a health trainer as well as a special falls and balance group.

Business manager of the Bradford on Avon & Melksham Health Partnership Amanda Brookes said: “I am delighted that the Bradford on Avon Leg Club has been shortlisted for this prestigious award.

“It could only continue to thrive with the input from our truly exceptional nurses, healthcare assistants, volunteers, Leg Club Foundation team and the ongoing support of the GP partners. To be shortlisted for an Integrated Approaches to Care award reflects and rewards this.”

The leg club will find out if it has been successful at the Nursing Times Awards ceremony held in London at Grosvenor House on November 15.
