A HOUSE in Freshford has been severely damaged after a blaze yesterday morning.
Crews from both Avon and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a detached property in Rosemary Lane.
A member of the public spotted the fire and two engines from Bath and one each from Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon attended.
Fire officers found the first floor and the roof of the property well alight and used two main jets to tackle the blaze as well as a high pressure hose reel.
The fire caused the roof to collapse and extensive damage to the rest of the house.
Due to the extent of the damage a structural engineer has been called in to carry out an assessment of the building’s stability.
Investigations are continuing to establish whether the property was occupied at the time of the fire, the cause of which is unknown at this stage.
