DOROTHY House Hospice Care has thanked the customers and staff at the Trowbridge office of Monahans, after receiving a cheque for almost £2,000 from the chartered accountants.

The company, which has raised over £1,952 for Dorothy House Hospice, recently presented the cheque to the charity and saw first-hand the service that it provides to patients.

Monahans raised the money in the office over the course of a year through a series of activities, including quizzes, raffles and book sales, as well as capitalising on the office’s love of chocolate by selling chocolate bars to staff as snacks.

Dorothy House Hospice remains the firm’s charity of the year for this year and activities are already underway to make sure that they beat the amount already raised.

Nicola Heath, of Monahans, said: “Raising money for local causes is something we feel very strongly about across the whole of Monahans and each office makes a real effort to raise as much as possible through staff activities as well as holding auctions at networking and client events.

“This year we also received a number of great donations that we have raffled off, including Mulberry and Apple items, which really helped to boost our total.

“Each year the Trowbridge office chooses their charity of the year and again Dorothy House Hospice was selected for 2015/2016. We’ve already got a busy list of activities for the rest of the year so we hope to beat our total and raise more funds for the great work Dorothy House Hospice does.”

The Monahans team will also be taking part in the Bath Midnight Walk this September, as well as having a bake-off later this year.

Steph Cox, Community Fundraiser at Dorothy House Hospice said: “All our services are provided free of charge and are only possible with the generous support of the community.

“For example, our outreach centres based in Trowbridge and Peasedown St John offer a cost free relaxed and informal drop-in and signposting service for anyone in the area affected personally or indirectly by a life limiting diagnosis.

“It is really heart warming to have been chosen as Charity of the Year and that we are continuing this partnership for the next year.

“We would like to say a real big thank you to all of the customers and colleagues that have donated to the annual amount and look forward to the next year’s fundraising efforts especially during our 40th birthday year.”
