A FEMALE motorist was taken to hospital with minor leg injuries after a five vehicle accident on the A36 near Warminster.

The incident happened just before 6pm on Wednesday, between the A361 roundabout and A350 roundabout.

A blue Audi A4, silver Audi A4, a car transporter lorry, Volvo and a fifth vehicle were involved in the accident, with the driver of the blue Audi taken by road to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for checks.

Emergency services including police, two fire crews from Warminster and South West Ambulance Service attended, as well as the Wiltshire Air Ambulance which was not required.

The road remained closed in both directions for several hours before being re-opened at 9.15pm.

The incident is the latest in a catalogue of accidents on the A36 this year, including two double-fatal crashes in less than a week.
