EDINGTON Priory Church will be the venue for the choir of Merton College Oxford and their Advent Concert this weekend.
Taking place on Saturday (December 12) at 7.30pm, the first half of the performance will journey from plainchant, through Byrd and Bach, to the present day with Dubra, Esenwalds and Matthew Martin.
The second half will include Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, traditional carols by Robert Pearsall and Adolphe Adam and recent carols by Bob Chilcott, one of which was commissioned for the Merton Choirbook.
The mixed choir, which consists of thirty undergraduates and post-graduates many of whom hold choral scholarships at Merton College, will be directed by Benjamin Nicholas – director of Music at Merton and artistic director of the Edington Music Festival.
Tickets are £20 for front seats, £15 for rear seats and £10 for side seats, plus £2 if bought on the night, or they can be bought in advance by calling 01380 831256 or 01380 871549, or emailing music@edingtonarts.org
