A BRADFORD on Avon school production of Alice and Wonderland has been a resounding success, selling out for each of its four performances.

There wasn’t a spare seat available at the St Laurence School play, which finally arrived after five months of preparation and with over 180 people involved.

The staff and student ensemble, including the cast, orchestra, management, on set and props, lit up a packed Trinity Hall on Tuesday and Wednesday, with two more shows taking place tonight and Saturday night.

“It was absolutely incredible and the commitment from everyone involved has been outstanding, so all credit to their hard work,” said drama teacher and the play’s director Sophie Harcom.

“I would like to thank everyone involved, it has been a huge team effort to help it all go swimmingly.

“It has been really well received. I’ve had lots of emails saying they really enjoyed it and the parents have been so supportive.”

After performing musicals and Shakespeare, the director wanted to take a different direction.

“We chose this because we wanted something different. We wanted to put our own spin on it and we’ve done that by creating our own musical score,” she said.

“For our key stage three students, as part of their curriculum, they’ve composed their own work and it has been fantastic.

“The main message is how overwhelmed I am with how much the students have put into this. We couldn’t have done it without them, they have been brilliant.”
