A CAR which has been left on a road in Trowbridge could cost Wiltshire Council £2,000.

The car, a silver Peugeot 206, has been left on Cross Street where re-surfacing of the road is currently taking place.

And despite signs being in place for more than a week warning people not to park on the road from February 3-5, the offending vehicle is causing disruption for workers.

Supervisor Kevin Diment from CH Contracting said: “We should have finished all the road work today.

“If the car is shifted overnight there won’t be any disruption but no one is interested in the car.

“We checked this morning with the police and they said they know who the owner is and they would send an officer round.

“But no one has gone round and they say Wiltshire Council should have a process to move cars for us.

“The road could be left with an unsurfaced patch.

“It would probably cost us about £2,000 just to get all our stuff here again.”
