Amenity land?

As a local, I would like to ask the local councillors and band of followers where they think this amenity land is within the Gap. As far as I am aware, the only land that may have been designated “amenity land” could only be that owned by Wiltshire Council. Other than that all the rest of the land is privately owned and still farmed.

If HGAG and its councillors wish it to become “their land - a place to roam - a place to de-stress - a place to let their dogs foul at will”, then may I respectfully suggest they purchase it from the relevant landowners? Other option being walk around your own property.

All dog walkers should be respectful of the fact they are on somebody’s property, and only have the right to walk on the footpaths with their dogs under control, and to clean up after them. This doesn’t mean bag it and hang it - take it home.

As for not building houses on the gap. Most of the objectors appear to be of latter years, living on the peripheral of the gap, in homes that were built on once green fields. They didn’t mind developers ravaging the land when they wanted a new home.

It does seem very self centred, when you have young couples that were born and bred in the village, wanting to return to their birthplace not being able to buy affordable property within the village, resorting to setting up home in caravans on driveways and in field corners.
