CUMBERWELL Park golfer Laurie Canter's run of cuts made on the European Tour came to an end at the Tshwane Open in South Africa today.
The 24 year old, who carded a four-over-par 74 in his opening round at Pretoria Country Club yesterday, could only beat that by one stroke in a weather-affected second round.
Starting on the 10th, Canter repeated his Thursday trick of being consistent on his front nine as he bogeyed his opening hole but then birdied the short 14th - his fifth - to go out in level par.
But needing birdies on the back nine to maintain his chances of being around for the weekend, back-to-back bogeys on the second and third hit his hopes and although he birdied the fourth, a double-bogey six on the seventh hole ended his tournament.
Canter had made four successive cuts since earning playing rights on the 2016 tour by emerging from the qualifying school finals in November.
