A TEENAGER who was seriously hurt in a crash is undergoing surgery today.

The 19-year-old, named by friends on this website as local footballer Robin Gorham, suffered serious injuries to his hip and legs and was taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

Mr Gorham plays alongside his brother Luke for West Lavington-based Churchill Arms in Division Four of the Chippenham and District Sunday League.

He has scored 15 goals this season and was his team's second leading goalscorer.

Mr Gorham, known to his friends as Gorz, was injured after his Peugeot 205 was in collision with a Vauxhall Astra on the A365 at Vernons Farm between Melksham and Redstocks at about 10.40pm last night.

Firefighters were called to the scene and had to cut him out of his car before he was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon with what police said could be life threatening injuries.

Three of the four occupants of the Vauxhall Astra were also cut from their car and were taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath with what police describe as minor injuries.

Police closed the road for several hours while investigations continued and they are appealing for witnesses to the incident. They should call Pc Appleton on 01249 449688.
