A BOWERHILL family are distraught after five pedigree rabbits were stolen overnight from their garden shed.

The Runyeard-Hunt family, of Wellington Square, took in pregnant lop eared rabbit, Floffy, with her partner, Wiggles, last November from a friend after it had been terrorising their labradoodle.

However, on Saturday (Apr 23), the couple, valued at around £60 each, were stolen along with their babies; Coco, Shadow and Willow.

Catherine Runyeard-Hunt said: “On Saturday night we went out for something to eat after leaving the kids with a friend.

“We picked them up, went home and then put the rabbits in the hutch, which is in the shed, for the night.

“In the morning when we got up they had gone. There were no signs of a fox or of them escaping. We have rabbit proofed the whole garden.

“There was no break in and the police think that they have got in over the fence. It is very upsetting as I have two daughters, Ruby and Lily, who obviously really liked them.

“We have another shed in the garden and nothing was taken from that one, the two mountain bikes are untouched.

“When they came they knew exactly what they wanted. I just feel a bit vulnerable that someone has been in the garden at night nicking my rabbits.

“My girls are a little scared now, as well, it is just not right. It would have been bad enough to take one but to take all five.”
