A PENSIONER'S erratic driving led to his car smashing into a parked car and flipping over in Frome Road, Southwick, just before 1.30pm today.
Police were alerted to the situation after the 71-year-old man, driving a turquoise Mercedes E240, was reportedly swerving over both lanes of the road before crashing into the parked Renault Scenic.
Three police cars, two ambulances and a fire crew from Trowbridge were on the scene shortly afterwards just outside the Southwick newsmarket store.
The septugenarian, who had been caught on a driver's lorry camera as far back as Beckington driving erratically, was being treated by ambulance services for minor injuries.
Firefighters helped the man from the car while it was on its side as a result of the crash.
Keith Murgatroid, 59, of Frome Road, said: "I came running out when I heard it. All I heard was a great big bang like a shotgun - that is how loud it was."
The road was reopened shortly before 2pm.
