NEW homes being built in Chippenham come complete with eco-friendly roofs.
At the Market Quarter development by Linden Homes, it's not just the other side of the fence where the grass is greener, but the roof too!
Some of the homes in the 256-home scheme in Cocklebury Road will feature green' living roofs.
It has a special drainage layer, which is provided over the waterproof membrane.
This in turn, is covered with soil and seeded with grass and other plants to provide an attractive feature, which also helps to retain rainwater after heavy rainfall, reducing excess surface water.
It also prevents the drains from overflowing and creates a welcome and safe habitat for wild flowers, butterflies and birds.
Alison Staddon, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes Western said: "With 26 off-plan sales already and the mounting interest we are currently receiving on the homes, it is clear that we are hitting the right note with our customers.
"Not only can they feel proud to be living in an eco-excellent development, but thanks to the various eco-measures we have introduced, they could also enjoy savings on their fuel bills."
