LACOCK is to be taken over again this year for its Scarecrow Festival Trail as the event returns over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Around 50 scarecrows are set to adorn the streets of Lacock, with the children’s trail themed around sweets and a board game theme for adults.

Organiser Sarah Green said: “It is always loads of fun and is really well attended by people from all over.

“It is a fun family evening for the adults and children to go around the village together and guess what is depicted by the scarecrows.

“The proceeds will go towards the Friends of Lacock School, who organise events and holidays for the children.”

The three day event will start on Saturday this weekend lasting until Monday, with adult admissions costing £3 and £1 for children.

First prize this year will be £300 worth of Watling’s vouchers and the prize for second place £100 in Whitehall vouchers and third a digital photography course at Lacock Photography.

“I helped out last year but this year I have been heavily involved with putting it all together,” she added.

“Some of the local businesses and parents have been mucking in and helping make some of the scarecrows.”
