FOR the eighth consecutive year, the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) celebrated its stand-out care workers throughout Wiltshire with an awards ceremony.

The Trust’s Wiltshire Employee Awards took place at Warminster Civic Centre on May 24, presented by David Stratton, Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Wiltshire, with over 90 employees from the trust’s 18 care homes receiving certificates of recognition.

Katie Orchard of Willowcroft in Salisbury was named this year’s Carer of the Year for her kind, gentle and professional manner and for the dedication shown to her residents and colleagues.

Robin Khokhar, OSJCT Assistant Operations Director for Wiltshire, said: “Our team members play a critical role in the trust providing our residents with the highest quality person-centred care, and, because of this, our annual ceremony is a very special event for us.

“Not only does it bring together our care teams from across the county, but it also gives us the opportunity to show our gratitude to all of the hard-working men and women who make a tremendous difference in our residents’ lives.

“All of the employees honoured at this year’s event have shown the utmost commitment and dedication to the trust and everyone living under our care.

“Whether celebrating long service, individual training achievements and group accreditations to garnering praise from colleagues, all of 2016’s recipients are extremely deserving of the recognition."

Other awards went to Shanna Haddrell and Pauline Lavis from Hayward Care Centre in Devizes, Sonia Gittins of Hungerford house in Corsham, Sally Reynolds from Watersmead in Westbury, Samantha Dean from Fives Court in Mere, Graeme Murdoch from Marden Court in Calne and Julie Kolasinkski from The Cedars in Purton.

In addition, the Mayor of Warminster, Cllr Paul Macfarlane, presented Jennifer Rymell of Athelstan House in Malmesbury with a Long Service Award for 35 years employment with the Trust.

Care & Quality Accreditation Awards were also presented to care homes in Calne, Melksham, and Royal Wootton Bassett in a number of categories including Dementia, Medicines Management, and Infection Prevention & Control.
