A 59-YEAR-OLD man was arrested yesterday after police raided an address in Trowbridge and discovered a cannabis factory.
Officers attended the property in Ashton Street following a call at approximately 12.45pm on Tuesday.
Once inside, approximately 100 plants were found with a sophisticated hydroponics system, spread out over two floors inside the property.
The man was arrested and taken to Melksham custody. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
PC Mark Hough said: “The cultivation of cannabis is a criminal offence, regardless of the scale of the factory.
“In this instance, we found around 100 plants being grown over two floors of the house in a residential area.
“As with many cannabis factories, the electricity supply had been by-passing the meter and could have put residents and buildings in the area at huge risk.
“We are committed to tackling this problem and would urge anyone who may have information in relation to drug activity in their community to contact us immediately via 101.
“If you have information which may assist us in our enquiries in relation to this incident, please also contact us via 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if preferred.”
