A COOKING star might just have been unearthed at Bradford on Avon's St Laurence School after a Year 9 pupil wowed the judges to become Bake Off champion.
On June 21, pupils from Year 7-10 were involved in the competition, with the winner getting a masterclass session from two professional chefs and having their entry on the menu at the Boathouse pub.
Executive head chef at Widbrook Grange Hotel, Phil Carroll, and Boathouse's sous-chef Lewis Eyers, judged the entrants and they decided that Year 9 pupil Oliver Good's Apricot Fruit Fool served with Amaretti biscuits was the winning dish.
"I was really happy to win and I am really looking forward to getting a lesson from two professional chefs next Monday," said the 14-year-old.
"It is pretty cool to have my pudding on their menu. I have been passionate about cooking for a few years now and who knows maybe it is something I will follow in the future."
Mr Eyers added: "His desert was very good and it rightly deserves to be on our menu for next week and potentially if it sells well it could be on there permanently."
