A RECORD number of pupils from John of Gaunt came out in force to their Year 11 prom.

Held on July 1 at Cumberwell Park in Bradford on Avon, over 200 students put on their best frock for the end of year celebration which gave pupils the chance to dance away their GCSE worries.

Bernie Pyper, head of Year 11 at the Trowbridge secondary, said: “The weather did threaten however we had a beautiful evening and students were able to make the most of the outside space.

“Many parents turned out to see their children and take treasured snaps.

“Students looked beautiful and we had some amazing entrances from a Scooby Doo van to a huge motorbike cavalcade for one of our quietest students.

“They also voted on the night for their prom king and queen, as well as best dressed teacher. It was a really lovely night where we saw our students transform into amazing adults. Some of them we didn't even recognise as they looked so different.”

Several students helped make the evening special from decorating jars into vintage tea light holders to creating a very popular sweet station.

With many students staying on next year, the school have said they look forward to seeing the students at their next prom in Year 13.

Mrs Pyper added: “We are so proud of our students and hope they look back on their school lives with great memories.”
