TROWBRIDGE Arts Festival have said they have been able to secure a dream booking in critically acclaimed guitarist, Steve Howe.

Performing at Trowbridge Civic Centre on Sunday, October 23, Mr Howe was voted Best Overall Guitarist in Guitar Player magazine five years in a row and was the first rock guitar player inducted into the Guitar Player Hall of Fame.

He is perhaps best known as the guitarist in the progressive rock group Yes, which he joined in June 1970. Yes soon went on to become one of the biggest selling bands of all time.

Mr Howe's eclectic guitar playing, spanning jazz, classical, folk, country, rock and blues, also led him to form the supergroup Asia in 1981, as well as GTR in 1985 alongside the ex-Genesis guitarist, Steve Hackett.

Festival Director and event promoter, Andrew Bryant, is delighted with securing the booking.

“This is set to be a really special night," he said. "Steve has been on my wish list since the very first festival, but dates have never tied up. We’ve been able to programme some superb musicians over the past few years – Gordon Giltrap and John Etheridge, Toyah and Hazel O’Connor; but to secure Steve Howe is the icing on the cake – a perfect way to celebrate five years of Trowbridge Arts Festival. Steve is performing with Yes in stadiums around the world this year so to book him at the Civic Centre is an absolute honour.”

Mr Howe's performance will see the guitarist play a programme of both Yes and solo tunes.

Tickets are on sale now from the Trowbridge Arts Festival website, www.trowbridgeartsfestival.co.uk, the TIC at the Civic Centre and Trowbridge Town Hall.
