PUPILS from Westbury Leigh Primary School celebrated the forthcoming Olympics by hosting their own Olympics week.

Each year group was assigned a designated continent which they researched for the event and learned about the history of the Olympics before trying out new sports.

The school hosted a closing ceremony on Friday, July 15 with an assault course and inflatable slide provided by Active Trowbridge.

School PE coordinator Meg Croker said: “The pupils really enjoyed learning about different continents and trying new sports.

“We have had really positive feedback from pupils and parents and there’s now a map on display at the front of the school which is made up of work the pupils did in Olympic week.”

Also included in the week was the school’s Race for Life, which involved pupils running around the school to raise money for Cancer Research.

Westbury Leigh was recognised for its sporting achievements by winning ’Primary Sports School of the Year’ at the Matravers Sports Awards ceremony last week.
