WARMINSTER’S Get Wiltshire Walking group completed their fourth walk in a series of six on Saturday, July 23.

A prehistoric earthwork was on the route for the group of 16 walkers, which also included Robin Hood’s Bower, where King Alfred is said to have gathered his troops before the historic battle of Ethandune in 878AD.

The group crossed the River Wylye twice and also visited Longbridge Deverill parish church.

Walk leader Victoria Coombes said: “Robin Hood’s Bower is not widely known about in the area and some people were visiting for the first time. "We were lucky to have good weather and everybody enjoyed the outing.”

The next walk will be to the Westbury White Horse on Saturday, August 13.
