YOUNG people being supported at the Amber Foundation in Trowbridge will be able to sit with ease thanks to a donation of a brand new sofa from a Seend furniture business.

The gift from Sofabedsofa.com, which costs hundreds of pounds, was hand delivered to Bythesea Lodge by company director Steve Parsons as a gesture of goodwill for the work they do in the community.

Mr Parsons said: “It was delightful to meet some of the residents who were all extremely positive and helpful and a pleasure to help such a worthwhile charity.

"Every year we refresh our range of showroom models, and sell off the old styles in our annual clearance sale. We are a small start-up company but we wanted in our second year of trading to try and give something back to the local community. That is when we struck upon the idea of donating one of our sale sofas to a local charity.

“The Amber Foundation sprung to mind as the best option and an organisation who would really benefit from a furniture donation given their recent centre refurbishment. I hope the kids at the centre will enjoy their new sofa for years to come."

The Amber Foundation is a charity which works with homeless, unemployed young people - many of whom have complex histories - and offers them a fresh start. Up to 30 young people stay at Bythesea Lodge at any one time, gaining a number of skills which will help them find work and live independently as soon as they feel confident enough.

Alison Williams, fundraising manager for the charity said: “We’re always incredibly grateful for donations and it is especially nice to get such a high quality, brand new sofa – especially as we have just finished re-decorating our lounge, where it will now take pride of place. The residents are thrilled.”
