MATRAVERS School in Westbury continued its upward trend with a solid set of GCSE results.

Headteacher Dr Simon Riding said: “We are delighted to report a significant improvement within our GCSE results.

"I am sure you will join me in congratulating the students for their dedication and commitment, parents for their support and teachers for all their hard work."

Georgie Goff, 16, from Westbury, was one of the school’s top performers with 4 A*s, 3 As and 3Bs.

She said: “I am very happy with my results, I was not expecting the A*s at all.

“I’m going to stay here for A-levels to study Geography, Maths and either Media or English Literature.

“I’m going to go for a nice dinner with my family tonight and a party with friends tomorrow to celebrate.”

Callum Langley also achieved highly with 2 A*s, 4 As, 2 Bs and 1C.

He said: “I’m happy but with all of those results. I’m a little bit disappointed with the C but it’s not too bad I guess.

“I came in expecting the worst so that anything better would be a bonus. Next year I’m going to study Physics, Maths and Geography at Matravers.

“I’m going to Wales for three days with friends today which should be a good way to celebrate.”

Joe Medway, 16, from Westbury, got 1 A*, 6 As, 1 B and 1 C.

He said: “I am very happy with my results. I’m going to go and have lunch with my friends now and then come back to school to have my A-level interview.

“I wasn’t nervoud until this morning when it suddenly grew on me.

“I hope to study History, Maths and English Literature here next year.”

Olivia Hellard got 2 A*s, 2 As, 3 Bs and 1 C.

She said: “I was really nervous before today but now I’m really happy and quite schocked too as I wasn’t sure how well I would do.”
