CHANGES to the exam system in recent years couldn’t stop Melksham Oak students from achieving their best as they collected their GCSE results today.

A total of 55 per cent of students got five A*-C GCSE grades including English and maths as well as a positive value for the new Government performance measure called Progress 8.

Deputy headteacher Owen Vince said: “These figures show outstanding progress for this year group and places us firmly once again in the top 25 per cent of schools nationally for progress for the seventh year in succession.

“These totals demonstrate the great performance by our students with the support of parents and teachers, especially in the light of the significant changes made to the exam system in recent years.”
