POLICE are appealing for information after treasured items of jewellery that were stolen from a Bradford on Avon women in her 80s.

The burglary took place sometime between early May and September 23 from a home in The Old Batch near Wiltshire Music Centre.

A pearl necklace with a sapphire and diamond clasp and an engagement ring - a granular faceted sapphire set amongst rose diamonds with an 18ct gold band with two diamonds on the 'shoulder' of the ring - were taken.

PC Gemma Lumley said: "These items were stolen from an elderly lady who is desperate for them to be returned as they hold a great deal of sentimental value - the necklace was given to her when she was a little girl.

"This is not just items of jewellery - these items hold a lot of memories for this poor lady and she would often wear them for special occasions.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who has information on this incident to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"I would also like to appeal to members of the public to keep an eye out for these items, and if you have information about where these items may be, please call 101."
