THE A361 between Hilperton and Semington has briefly reopened for the rest of today until tomorrow morning.

Drivers looked set to endure a second day of traffic chaos in Trowbridge but the stretch of road opened this afternoon but will reclose at 7am tomorrow.

A spokesperson for Faresaver Buses said: "Our buses go along that road every 30 minutes and our drivers said it was open.

"We contacted the passenger transport department at Wiltshire Council said it would be open for the rest of today but would be closed again tomorrow morning.

"They also said they hope to finish the work before the end of the week as they are progressing well."

Wiltshire Council's official diversion route takes motorists to Yarnbrook to join the A363 which has been put in place to accommodate HGV lorries.

However, drivers can also reach Trowbridge by leaving the A350 at Stoney Gutter or West Ashton.
