A WILTSHIRE twist on Oktoberfest was held on Saturday as the Three Daggers put on a Hop Festival with a difference.
Scores of adults were able enjoy the brewery’s ‘green’ hop beer which saw 40p from every pint of their specially brewed Priory Farm Ale donated to the village’s new play area fit with new climbing apparatus and safety matting.
Edington Parish Council funded the new climbing apparatus and safety matting with a £3,500 grant from the Westbury Area Board, a donation from a village business and from proceeds from the Three Daggers autumn Hopfest.
It was official unveiled by Cllr Jerry Wickham on Saturday to coincide with the festival.
Neil Glasspool, operations manager of the Three Daggers said: “The pub is very much part of the Edington community and the play park provides a wonderful place for local and visiting children to play. We were delighted to help with this fantastic project.”
The pub was able to raise £300 from the sale of beers while there was a whole host of bands playing throughout the day including The Lightnin' Hobos, Callum King and The Crash Gears.
Families were also treated to pizzas from the outdoor pizza oven as children explored the new play area.
Mike Swabey, chairman of Edington Parish Council said he was thankful to everyone who had helped contribute to the new play equipment as it would benefit the entire village.
