THREE members of staff from Warminster's Sport Centre have cycled their way to success all in aid of raising awareness of healthy cholesterol levels.

Adam Coote, Bradley Butler and Becky-Jane Colborne from the Places of People-run sports centre completed the 110.2 mile cycle on a exercise bike, following a map in the shape of a heart, to support HEART UK - The Cholesterol Charity on Monday.

Becky-Jane Colborne, fitness manager from the sports centre said: “We are so pleased to be involved with HEART UK's National Cholesterol Month because we think it is imperative that people are aware about the dangers of high cholesterol. It is very important for us to be involved in fundraisers like this, so we can spread awareness to everyone that enters our facility. After completing the virtual cycle last year, which took us nearly 12 hours, we were eager to reduce our time to 10 hours this year.”

The cycle was part of HEART UK's Great Cholesterol Challenge which is encouraging people to start a healthy habit and stick to it for the entire month through real and virtual challenges.

The trio cycled for 10 minute intervals on a static bike that was set up in reception for all to see after the centre completed the same challenge last year and they managed to ride the distance in just over seven hours. They also managed to raise around £150 for the charity.

HEART UK is aiming to raise £50,000 to provide expert support, guidance and education for people with raised cholesterol and their families by encouraging people to take part in the cholesterol challenge.
