A CHIROPRACTIC clinic which has been based in Wingfield for nearly four decades has relocated to Semington.

The new premises of Healthcare 2000 Clinics features two purpose-built treatment rooms, four changing rooms, a couple of offices and a reception area.

Doctor of Chiropractic and clinic owner, Michael Copland-Griffiths, fell in love with the Independent Living Centre building in Semington as soon as he saw it and knew it was the ideal location.

“When I entered the building it felt immediately like home from home”, said Mr Copland-Griffiths.

“As a chiropractic student I spent my last four summer, winter and Easter holidays working here at St George’s Hospital as an auxiliary nurse, mainly in the geriatric unit.

“Passing by Cavell Ward where I had worked, I walked straight up the stairs and turned left towards Nightingale Ward where my mother went on to work after I left.”

On Saturday (November 12) the clinic officially launched its new premises and the Wingfield Chiropractic Clinic at Trowle House has since closed for good.

Among the guests on the open day was Carole Pattenden, a previous sister on the Nightingale Ward, who was given the honour to cut the ribbon to mark the occasion.

Following her retirement from St George’s Hospital, Mrs Pattenden retrained as a reflexologist and worked at Chippenham Chiropractic Clinic, also part of the Healthcare 2000 Clinics group, for several years.

Healthcare 2000 Clinics in Semington offers chiropractic, physiotherapy, acupuncture and sports therapy to the people of Trowbridge and the surrounding area.

The company also has clinics in Chippenham and Corsham and its chiropractors have treated more than 25,000 patients across its clinics since launching in 1977.
