NEARLY £600 has been raised by Wiltshire's Garston Vets for the Willberry Wonder Pony charity which was set up by a teenage rider who died from bone cancer.

The Garston Veterinary group, who have offices in Westbury, Warminster, Melksham and Trowbridge, raised the amount at this year’s Frome Cheese Show in September selling tea, coffee and cake.

The proceeds of the day will go towards the cancer charity Hannah Francis, who died in August at the age of 18 after battling osteosarcoma for over a year, set up with the help of friends and family.

Equine partner, Neil Brimson, who had known Hannah and her family for several years, presented the £587.46 cheque to the teenager’s Grandmother, June Clothier.

“We all miss Hannah so very much. It has been a struggle for the family since she passed away. What is giving us comfort is keeping the charity going as that’s exactly what she wanted us to do," said Mrs Clothier.

"People have been so generous. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone at Garston Vets, with selling the wristbands, mugs and chocolates, as well as helping us at events we have been organising. The response has been truly overwhelming to us all.”

During the 15 months Hannah, who lived in Hemington, Somerset, fought the disease, she raised more than £100,000.
