A MAN from Trowbridge has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for committing a number of thefts.

Jack Isaacs, aged 32, of The Halve, was charged on Tuesday (November 29) with theft after he stole alcohol from the Co-Op in Melksham.

Isaacs was remanded in custody and appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court yesterday. For this offence, he was sentenced to four weeks imprisonment.

The offence was however committed during a suspended sentence which he was given in June for six counts of theft and one charge of battery.

As a result, the suspended sentence was activated and Isaacs was jailed for 39 weeks.

PC Mark Hough said: “We are pleased that the suspended sentence has now been activated as, despite being issued with this sentence back in June, Isaacs has continued to offend.

“I hope this serves as a reminder to members of our community that we will not tolerate theft of any description, and if you continue to offend like Isaacs, you will end up serving time in prison.

“Anyone wishing to report theft should call police on 101.”
