PUPILS at St. George's Primary School are spreading the feel-good festive factor by raising £400 for charity from their Christmas tree fundraiser.

In the past few weeks, the Warminster school has been planning their own raffle event with the winner getting a tree that the pupils helped to decorate and customise.

Reception teacher Vicky Davies successfully got many local businesses to sign up to the raffle, which was in aid of the forces charity SAFFA and homeless charity Julian House, and on Tuesday pupils from the school delivered their tree to the winners, The Cutting Bar, in Corn Market.

"The tree looks absolutely great and we are very happy to station it in our shop," said manager Eddie Cardwell.

"It was really nicely decorated too. It had baubles, CD's, lolly pop sticks and they were really excited to hand it over to us, especially one of the lads who gets his haircut here."

The week before, the tree was on display in Trowbridge as part of the first ever tree festival at St James' Church.

"We are delighted to have raised £400 for two great causes. A lot of children here are forces services children and one our our focuses at the school is homelessness so it fit well," said the school's headteacher Louise Croker.
