POLICE are appealing for information regarding the whereabouts of a distinctive guitar which was stolen during a burglary in Southwick.

The 2009 model Fender Stratocaster USA which is black with a white scratch plate and a rosewood neck was stolen during the burglary in Wesley Lane between October 24 and 31 while the occupants were on holiday.

It was in a black hard plastic Fender case and has the serial number 00224044 on the head stock of the guitar.

PC Vicki Pegrum said: "This guitar is very distinctive and is a big loss to the victim - it would cost approximately £1,000 to replace.

"I'd like to appeal to anyone who may have been sold the guitar without realising it had been stolen, or maybe somebody was given it as a Christmas present - please check the serial number.

"We have been carrying out a number of enquiries following this incident, but as yet, we have not had any success in tracking the items down.

"Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

As well as the guitar, a number of other items were stolen including a Bose sound dock iPod dock, a grey iPod and a pink iPod.
