A MAN was assaulted in his Westbury home by a group of four men who then raided the house and stole expensive jewellery.

The gang of men called at the address in Percheron Place at around 6.30pm yesterday (Monday, January 9) before forcing their way in and assaulting the homeowner.

The men then stole a number of items of jewellery including gold rings, gold necklaces and five gold bracelets, as well as cash.

One of the men is described as being around 5 ft 6 inches tall, of medium build while a second man is described as being 6 ft tall of slim build and was wearing a baseball cap with a hooded top and a scarf covering his face. Some of the men are believed to have spoken with Irish accents.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

DC Cerys Powell said: “This was a very frightening incident for the victim, who was assaulted by the men as they forced their way into the house.

“Luckily, he was not injured but he was understandably left very shaken up.

“All of the men are believed to have been wearing dark clothes, with their faces covered.

“We are carrying out a thorough and robust investigation into this incident, including house-to-house enquiries and analysing CCTV footage.

“We’d like to appeal to anyone who saw a group of males in the area between 6.30pm and 7.15pm to please get in touch. You may have vital information.”
