POLICE are appealing for witnesses and urging residents to be vigilant after a series of garage break-ins overnight in Trowbridge.

Around 15 garages were broken into to the rear of Waterworks Road between January 15 and 16.

The incidents were reported by a resident at 7am this morning.

Padlocks on the garages were cut but it is not believed anything was stolen from inside.

Acting Inspector Louis McCoy said: “Officers are currently carrying out enquiries at the scene and following up all information we receive.

“At this early stage of the investigation, we do not believe anything has been stolen during the break-ins but we would urge residents who have been affected who have not already contacted police to please do so, so we can build up a clearer picture of the damage.

“I’d urge residents to take steps to secure their garages and sheds and be a nosey neighbour – if something seems suspicious, report it.

“I’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the area overnight between 11pm and 7am – any information you have could be crucial to our investigation.”

If you have any information, please call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
