POLICE have closed Monday Market Street in Devizes after a suspected stabbing.

Staff at Sainsbury's called the emergency services after cries were heard outside the store.

Passersby, staff and shoppers went to a man's aid just before 12.45pm and police taped off the area as a South Western Ambulance Service crew arrived.

The Wiltshire Air Ambulance rapid response car was on the scene moments later.

It is believed that a Devizes man aged 35 suffered a leg injury which is not life-threatening.
