MCDONALD’S in the Spitfire Retail Park will not be extending its opening hours after Wiltshire Council refused a planning application.

Currently the fast food chain is open from 7.30am until 11pm but McDonald’s wanted to extend the hours from 6am until midnight daily.

In Wiltshire Council’s refusal notice it states: “The proposed extended hours of operation by reason of increased activity by customers, staff and deliveries beyond the existing hours, would give rise to a loss of amenity to the existing nearby residential development.”

The application was refused on Monday, February 6.

Trowbridge councillor Graham Payne said: “This is good news for residents in Bradley Road.

“They have become used to the current hours and already have to deal with disturbance in the form of boy racers playing loud music in the car park late at night.

“I’m sure they will be very pleased at this.”
